Building blocks to learn English

In the last Macmillan Teachers Training Session we had the opportunity to put into practice a very easy and productive activity in which you only need children and building blocks.

- Place the children in groups of 3.
- Have plenty of building blocks for each group.
- The teacher starts giving instructions in English and children follow the instructions using the
   building blocks.

Eg. Teacher says: "Classify the blocks in colours, shapes and size"

You can do it more complex. Eg, teacher says: "make an animal with the building blocks"

Now, more examples: "I want to see a table and a chair" (teacher asks for as many furniture as you want)

An other example, teacher says: "make a building of your city".  When children have their buildings ready, you can use some of these buildings to make a city and work about directions and prepositions of place.

A new example, to work about comparative and superlative adjectives. Eg, teacher says: "make the tallest tower"
